The Springer Home has been owned since 1885. It was built in 1899 for Matilda Robey Springer. Jeremiah Robey Springer was next to own the home after purchasing it from his mother in 1938.
We recently purchased this property and were hoping to renovate it to protect the legacy that goes along with it. Unfortunately, after meeting with several general contractors and a structural engineer, we found that we were not able to save the home and make it safe for future use. Among other things, the original foundation of pot rock and brick is crumbling beneath it.
We were forced to take the home down and are currently rebuilding a new building similar to the original design, using many of the current materials in its construction. We hope it can be part of the Midway community for at least another century!
